Adelaide Is Still A Backwater Despite What Our Politicians Want You To Think…

I spent the weekend in Melbourne rollerblading vert at The Shed Skatepark in Cranbourne.

I got a backflip onto to front wheels before falling to my knees in under 5 hours because they have a “Resi” (foam overlaid with plastic surface) on the vert ramp.

I’ve been training at West Beach for 3 years and couldn’t progress that much.

The Shed is a council-run facility, where on that weekend I met a 16-year-old skateboarder who was training for the next Olympics.

I’m almost a 40-year-old man with bad knees — imagine what a youngster with a few more hours could achieve.

With a few months of dedicated training with a similar facility, I could become world-class, yet it took almost a year of *begging* just to get the rotted deck replaced on the West Beach halfpipe due to zero fucks given by all parties involved.

No wonder Adelaide is still considered a backwater and laughing stock of Australia.

If it wasn’t for my family, I’d be out of SA in a flash and wouldn’t look back.

AFL (and it’s Gather Round) isn’t an Olympic sport.
