ChatGPT & Why ALL Brands Need to Forget Selling & Advertising… (PART 2)

Previously I wrote about how building a brand will be important in an AI-interacting-with-information-world: https://orren.medium.com/chatgpt-why-all-brands-need-to...

The tl;dr version was you should be building a brand via content.

GPT4, the next iteration of OpenAIs AI model will be released to a broader range of people through ChatGPTs premium subscription and to app developers through their API sometime soon.

Up until now, according to OpenAI, the current mainstream model GPT3, has been trained on http://commoncrawl.org & http://wikipedia.org amongst other things.

This is some 175 billion parameters that end around September 2021.

GPT4 however has 100 trillion parameters.

That is 571 times more parameters!

It’s not clear what makeups these new parameters (but, no doubt OpenAI has scraped the web using its own bot and “indexed” it as Google does), but GPT4 can now access live websites and read from them (no doubt it too will scrape it and “index” it for its answers in real-time).

I also suspect in the future a GPT version will be able to write to web forms etc also.

There is evidence that it can do that through ChatGPT Plugins (see the second to-bottom video here: https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt-plugins called “third party plug-in demo” for making orders) — more on Plugins shortly…

But, if the former is true (it has scraped the web using its own bot and “indexed” it as Google does), there is even more impetus to build brand (via on-page or off-page content).

If the latter is true, (it will scrape a website it has been instructed to by a user in real-time and “index” it for its answers), it again means there is even more impetus to build brand (via on-page content).

ChatGPT is also releasing the equivalent of an app store with Plugins.

100,000,000 monthly active users and not many Plugins will be a gold rush for brands looking to get access to new attention and awareness and leverage it within ChatGPT for generating leads and sales.

Interesting times.
