Copywriting with ChatGPT: Better Prompts = Better Outputs, But Not The Best…

Following on from this (https://orren.medium.com/ai-sales-copywriting-tools-arent-as-good-as-they-claim-8356ae97a2fa) post, better ChatGPT prompts = better outputs.

For example, when I put the following prompt “Write sales copy for new vegan chocolate ice cream made in Australia” it gives the following output:

It’s pretty basic.

I can, however be more specific with a similar prompt, like “Write sales copy for new vegan chocolate ice cream made in Australia using the AIDA copywriting framework”.

This prompt gives me the following output:

It’s getting better.

What tends to work well with ChatGPT (especially for writing computer code) is breaking prompts into components/snippets as well as being specific with them.

For example, if I break the AIDA copywriting framework into it’s four pieces, starting with “Write an attention-catching headline for new vegan chocolate ice cream made in Australia”:

Then “Write an introduction story about new vegan chocolate ice cream made in Australia that will hold someone’s interest so they will want to continue to read”:

Then “Write about this new vegan chocolate ice cream made in Australia so that someone will desire purchasing it”:

Then one has to concatenate it back together, so the full text would be:

Satisfy Your Cravings with the Creamiest Vegan Chocolate Ice Cream, Freshly Made in Australia!

Our new vegan chocolate ice cream is unlike any other dessert you’ve tried before. This is far better than the first two!

Yet, his is still not great — it may take them longer, but a good copywriter will be able to write something that is far more convincing than this.

Even from here, I could have gone into more specific snippets for AIDA’s Interests and Desire categories like exact features, benefits, advantages, and so on and this would be even better than above.

ChatGPT is not a magic bullet in its current form — it gets you to third base, but it still takes effort to create something okay from it.

It also doesn’t pass AI detectors.
