I Called It!

Back on 22 July 2019, I did a vlog/podcast episode on if Instagram’s ban on post likes is a bad thing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtTRsAOjKpg).

Like every other commentator I agreed that it was a good thing for mental health, authentic content etc.

But, sameness is boring though.

Unlike the rest of the commentators, that wasn’t my main point.

The main point I made was that Instagram was trying to block how easy it was for brands to create private partnerships with influencers and banning post likes made research hard for brands so brands had to form private partnerships with influencers via Instagram.

Well, whaddya know???

That is exactly what Instagram were planning and it was made public today: https://www.voguebusiness.com/…/instagram-influencer-market…

Come on now, you really think Instagram is motivated purely by the feels?

That “Influencer” money pie sure tastes nice to Instagram.

I suspect a lot of business models are being revised as I type!
