The Unemployed & The Unappreciated…
My LinkedIn Feed is slowly filling up with people who have been made redundant due to economic factors, not their competencies etc.
I know this because they are posting more, especially about how they are going to build awareness of their “personal brand” to get another role (*they should have been doing that long before they are made redundant).
Anyway, curious, I go back to their employer’s website and look at their careers pages.
On there, those employers are still hiring — presumably roles that amalgamate several of the redundancies.
Inevitably they have wording to the effect of “You need to be passionate about OUR COMPANY/INDUSTRY”.
Mate, it’s a job, your not giving them equity or share options.
It’s a pure transaction — a fee for service.
But more importantly, you didn’t show passion for the employees you just let go.
